The long awaited event is finally arriving! This year, the Allianz Penang Bridge International Marathon managed to attract more than 34,500 participants from 67 countries all over the world, making it Penang’s signature sporting event. The marathon does not only promote an active and healthy lifestyle, but also provides a significant boost to the local tourism industry every year. Aside from just running the race, many of these participants also travel with family and friends and take the opportunity to visit Penang and sample local food and delicacies. During this time, hotels in Penang also benefit from an increased or full occupancy.
Happening this Saturday, 18 November, the marathon will begin at 1.00am with the opening ceremony and various performances, followed by the flag-off of the Full Marathon Category at 2.00am. The Half Marathon will start at 3.00am and the 10km Junior category will start at 6.00am followed by the 10km Open at 6.30am and Fun Run at 7.00am. Runners who can finish the race within the qualifying time for competitive runs will be given a Finisher’s Medal while Fun Runners will get a certificate. The 1st to 15th place winners of the competitive run categories will also receive a trophy and cash prize on top of their finisher medal.
For 1st to 3rd place for Full Marathon Open and Veteran, Half Marathon Open and 10km Open categories, the prize presentation will be at the Main Stage at 9.00am, while prize presentation for 1st to 3rd place for Half Marathon Veteran and 10km Junior, as well as 4th to 15th place for Full Marathon will be held at the Photoboard Stage at 7.30am. As for 4th to 15th place for all Half Marathon and 10km categories, winners can collect their prizes at the Winner’s Tent at 6.30am and 8.00am respectively.
To thank all its sponsors, the Allianz Penang Bridge International Marathon organising committee will also be throwing them a dinner from 6.00pm to 7.30pm at the marathon site.
Currently, the dates left for collection of race kits are 14 to 16 November from 10am till 9pm and 17 November from 10am till 6pm. The Allianz Penang Bridge International Marathon Committee would like to wish all runners best of luck!

APBIM 2012's race pack collection starts today! Yay! For the next few days, 10th to 11th Nov and 14th to 17th Nov 2012, we are expecting over 30,000 participants to self collect their race kits at our counter. Please along your IC or your official receipt for the collection. For collection on behalf, please print out your friend's receipt and bring along your own IC for verification purposes. See you there.
Schedule:
10th to 11th Nov: 10am to 9pm
14th to 16th Nov: 10am to 9pm
17th Nov: 10am to 6pm (last collection is at 6pm)

The race pack collection tent is located at the open space car park beside Coffee Bean at Queensbay Mall.

Your Timing Device for Allianz Penang Bridge International Marathon 2012 is the ChronoTrack B-Tag. In order to receive an accurate timing, please:
1) Click here to double check your correct bib number
2) pin your bib clearly on the front of your singlet. Pin all four corners
3) Do not fold or wrinkle the bib
4) Do not cover your bib with jackets, running belt, water bottles and etc.
