We officially launched our Penang Bridge International Marathon 2009 at E&O Hotel on the 14th September 2009. We would like to convey our sincerest gratitude to all our sponsors for last year’s marathon because without your support, it would be a tough feat to conquer. To our sponsors who are sponsoring this year’s marathon, a big thank you for your support and contribution. This marathon event would not reach the stage it is at now without your ardent support from the very beginning.

PRESS STATEMENT BY YB DANNY LAW HENG KIANG CHAIRMAN OF THE PENANG BRIDGE INTERNATIONAL MARATHON Dated 16th August 2009
“HOW A MARATHON BOOSTS THE PENANG TOURISM INDUSTRY”

We are proud to inform the Penang Bridge International Marathon participants that the PBIM Organising Committee have invited  Mr. Dave Cundy the Board Member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races who is also an IAAF/AIMS International Measurement Administrator of Asia & Oceania and an IAAF/AIMS Grade A Course Measurer along with Fran Seton IAAF/AIMS Grade B Course Measurer here to speak at the PBIM Forum held last Sunday and also to measure the Penang Bridge International Marathon Running Course and to finalize the route. Also at the forum to give us a view of marathons from the medical perspective is Dato' Dr Yee Thiam Sun who specializes in Sport Medicine, besides Audiological medicine, Family Practice & Occupational Medicine and has been a prominent authority in many marathons as a Chief Medical Officer and Chief Medical Commissioner and gives talks to help prepare the runners for a marathon run.

Our first forum on everything Penang Bridge International Marathon went on smoothly on 16th August 2009. 40 PBIM 2009 participants took part in this forum. Thanks to our distinguish guest speakers, we discussed topics on tourism, road measurement, stretching and medical knowledge on marathon. Enclosed are some pictures to share...

Dear PBIM Runners,

How are you? We trust that your training for the marathon is proceeding well and we look forward to see all of you at the race.

We understand that taking part in a marathon takes intense preparation and skill. We salute all of you for your dedication and determination in the race. As such, we are planning to have a series of forums and clinics relate to marathon prior to our event on 22nd Nov 2009. We hope you will be able to learn tips on how to minimize any excess damage to the body and thus make PBIM race a more pleasant experience.

All PBIM participants can look forward to the Penang Bridge International Marathon Forum this Sunday at Naza Talyya Hotel, Tanjung Bungah. Come take part in this forum to gain a better understanding of the Penang Bridge International Marathon event and also to obtain the knowledge of preparing for a marathon which is required prior to your run. Running a marathon needs much effort to accomplish, but the satisfying results of the personal achievement is enlightening.  Therefore, we are providing you with this privilege to learn the tips and proper guidance in order to make the Penang Bridge International Marathon a pleasant running experience for you.

Speakers and Topics for the Penang Bridge International Marathon Forum include:-

The Penang Bridge International Marathon Committee is now recruiting Volunteers to join the PBIM Team in promoting Penang's popular annual sport at local parks, multinational factories, schools, colleges, universities and shopping malls! Join us in encouraging the public to take up the marathon as a healthy lifestyle sport! We are searching for enthusiastic responsible volunteers who have a keen sense for this sport and also supportive in making this State event a huge success! Keep up with the latest action from the PBIM Team and tell us when you can join us in promoting the Penang Bridge International Marathon! Volunteers who join us during the promotion of the PBIM Registration will receive a nominal allowance as a token of appreciation from the PBIM Team throughout this PBIM promotional period!
