PBIM disqualifies Mohaizar Mohamad from 4th placing of Half Marathon Malaysia Men Category

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Press Statement by YB Danny Law Heng Kiang,

Chairman of Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM)

With reference to the complaint which was highlighted in the newspapers and Facebook regarding a runner who cheated at our recently concluded ASICS Penang Bridge International Marathon which was held on 27 November 2016, the committee of Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) has conducted a thorough investigation and the following are our findings:

Mohaizar Mohamad ran the Half Marathon category using a bib belonging to another runner by the name of Biyazid Reduan. He then came out at 4th placing in the Half Marathon Malaysian Men Category. After much discussion and deliberation, the Penang Amateur Athletic Association (PAAA) has decided to disqualify Mohaizar Mohamad from the 4th placing of Half Marathon Malaysian Men category.

As such, Mohaizar Mohamad has been disqualified from the race and appended below is the revised results for the Half Marathon Malaysian Men Category for ASICS Penang Bridge International Marathon (APBIM) 2016.

Therefore, I officially declare that Mohaizar Mohamad is disqualified as the winner of the 4th placing for the Half Marathon Men category and will be black listed and will not be allowed to take part in the Penang Bridge International Marathon for the next 10 years. In addition to that, PBIM committee will refer him to PAAA for further disciplinary action. As for Biyazid Reduan, he will be given a show cause letter for allowing another runner to use his bib (E 15321) to run the race on his behalf as everyone is well aware that upon registration, bibs are non-transferrable.

Finally, I urge Mohaizar Mohamad to contact us immediately through our email info@penangmarathon.gov.my or office number at 04-650 5136 / 016 4110000 to return us his cash prize. The rest of the winners who are affected by the revision of the results are also requested to contact us for their updated winning prizes.
